ConnectionsConnections, designed by Charlene R. Kamper and funded by The Dibble Fund for Marriage Education, is comprised of
two programs for adolescents.
These programs are offered through several of the Lenawee County school systems.
"Dating and Emotions" is a course about establishing good relationships with friends, families, teachers,
boy / girl friends and eventually husbands / wives. Offered to early secondary students, Dating and Emotions
includes 17 lessons covering topics that include being ready to date, healthy relationships and relationship
problems including endings and starting over.
"Relationships & Marriage" is a course for senior high school students using practical, interactive skills in
communication.
The purpose of the relationship material, which includes 18 lessons, is to assist youth in gaining a better
understanding of themselves, to help identify positive or negative patterns of behavior that influence the
quality of relationships, to clarify perceptions and expectations in dating relationships and to offer
guidelines for choosing a life mate.
The marriage section of the course is designed to increase awareness of specific areas of importance within the marriage relationship. These areas include: setting priorities, sharing responsibility for the children, understanding the fundamentals of family finances, working through crisis, and learning how to enjoy time spent together. |
