TANF Eligibility

Overview

Eligibility for Classes funded by Temporary Assistance to Needy Families

Marriages That Work has a Federal TANF grant to assist in funding the programs offered. What follows is a quick look at the factors for TANF funding for classes, it is not meant to be for self-determining eligibility.

To have eligibility determined, please call Marriages That Work at (517) 266-8525.

There are basically two factors used to determine TANF eligibility:

Factor #1:

There must be at least one adult living in the home who is pregnant and/or has at least one child in the home who is related by blood, marriage or adoption. The child(ren) must be under the age of 18 years or 18 years and attending high school full time.

Factor #2 – Income:

The family is receiving one or more of the following assistance:
  • FIP – Family Independence Program
  • Medicaid
  • WIC
  • Food Stamps
  • Child Care

OR

The family qualifies based on family size vs. income scale. This determination can only be made by checking with the staff at Marriages That Work.
